What’s up with the “Downtown District”?

Recently, the Leduc Downtown Business Association (LDBA) and the City of Leduc agreed to a border expansion of the LDBA to better encompass a more accurate representation of the downtown as defined by both parties and as we further participate as a collaborative partner with the City towards a new Downtown Master Plan. The new border limits include the entirety of the Central Business District with the inclusion of the Alberta Heritage Society (Leduc Grain Elevator), Telford House, and Telford Park.

To better reflect the new borders and the membership within, the LDBA moved forward to rebrand, positioning away from the Main Street focus of the brand to the new public-facing entity - The Downtown District.

Over the coming days, we will look forward to welcoming over 100 new members to our association. Check out our new border map below!

What even is “the ldba?”

The Leduc Downtown Business Association, commonly referred to around town as the LDBA or the DBA, is a non-profit organization that provides free services to its members. Membership within the association is based on geographical location. We seek to provide business advocacy + support and community awareness + development. Further, the Leduc Downtown Business Association is behind the “Downtown District” (formerly known as “Main Street Shopping District”) and promotes the area and its businesses by hosting and supporting community events and through various marketing efforts.

The board of the association is made up of local business owners and community members, as well as representatives from our stakeholders at the City of Leduc and the Regional Chamber of Commerce. If you want to learn more about what the association serves to provide to its members and the community, you can view our 2022-2025 Strategic Plan here.

The LDBA has worked diligently to foster and develop working relationships and position ourselves as collaborative partners with the City of Leduc and the Leduc, Nisku and Wetaskiwin Regional Chamber of Commerce. The LDBA works to advocate for business owners at all levels of government. We provide opportunities for business owners to personally interact with our government representatives, learn from industry experts, take advantage of programs and initiatives, and foster community support amongst our membership.

Okay, so what?

If you’re a member of the public, you can expect all the same great things that the Main Street Shopping District was behind, just from the Downtown District instead. Things like our great events such as The Santa Claus Parade, block parties, markets, and festivals. Not to mention giveaways, promotions, collaborations, and heads-up on everything happening downtown! In fact, you’ll likely see more, as more businesses get involved and our footprint is a little bigger so we can include more great community partners. Stay tuned as we launch our events calendar soon. You can sign up for our newsletter to stay informed here. 2022 is going to be FULL of great times, friends, and we can’t wait for you to Experience Downtown!
