The Institute of Child Psychology wants to share some tips on “How to make school drop off easier” :

With school returning, many children get very anxious. Often there is a new school or teacher and the transition can provoke a lot of feelings for our kiddos. Here are some guidelines to follow to make the transition smoother for your child.

How To Make School Drop Off Easier:

  1. PRACTICE: Practice drop-off's before the school year starts

  2. CLUE THEM IN: Find out the drop-off policy ahead of time. Every school is different, so talk with your child about what drop-off will look like. Cluing them into this new routine will minimize the anxiety they may have.

  3. VALIDATE: If they're anxious, validate- but also share with them that you know they can handle it!

  4. REMIND: Remind them when you will return.

  5. CONNECTION: Physical connection before dropping kids off (hug, kiss or high-five).

  6. SAFE ADULT: Connect them with a safe adult before leaving.

  7. REMINDER: You're only a phone call away. This is a quick an easy way to assure your child that you may not be physically with them, but the school can always reach you if necessary.

  8. OBJECT: Give them a special "transitional" object- if the school permits it, you can give your child a special object to keep with them (ie. a family photo, a stuffy, or a parent's article of clothing).

From dedicated desks to private offices, they have everything you need to get your workday going. Memberships include access to the cozy coworking lounge and a selection of beverages to keep you energized throughout the day. Meet new people and make connections with local professionals.

Here is a tip from the Community Manager,

“Let me be the first to say, don't fall for the hustle culture! Yes, work on what you need to do, but release the pressure of hard deadlines if you can help it. Instead, prioritize.

To help you determine the priority of your work/business goals, consider the following:

  • Is this something that needs to be done by the end of this year? If so, how can you break it down into smaller steps from now until December? If not, write it down in the January section of your planner and deal with it then!

  • Is this something only you can do or can it be delegated more appropriately?

  • Is there anything getting in the way and how can you address it?

    • Side note, if it's a matter of needing a clean and bright space where you can focus, The Light House Cowork would be delighted to invite you for a day so you can feel productive in our business lounge!”
